Oh my word. Dale Jasper was fifty a couple of months ago.

I have no idea why that shocks me, but it does.

You expect your childhood 'heroes' to stay forever young, captured as you remember them. In Dale Jasper's case, as a gelled up wide boy who loved looking at pictures of himself. In my case, I remember Peter Ward as a permed football genius, with boyish good looks. He's SIXTY next year. More worryingly for the 20 year old me, Linda Lusardi is nearly 56

You see, I expect Wardy to be old. His spell at the Albion was, to be honest, before my time. I started going in 1986. But Dale Jasper (by no means a "hero"- I remember him as almost exclusively shit) is one of that first breed of players that I knew well. The idea of him being fifty is bizarre. A bit like Kylie Minogue being forty-six this year. Kylie will NEVER be forty six

He may do now though, tastes change over time. Be interesting to ask him after all these years... hmm. I used to hate olives, love them now though

Kevan Brown is now director of sport at St Francis School in Pewsey, Wiltshire. May need to track him down to find out.

Bit surprised he doesn't think he'd have been a cricketer if he didn't enter professional football.

Most like to meet: Shakoor Rana

The wit of that response is spoiled only slightly by the programme editor feeling the need to add "(Pakistan cricket umpire?)" after his reply.

Bonus points to Gatt for Dire Straits & Only Fools though.

I wonder if any player will make it a full house?
