What a load of shit.

Her views/opinions may be stupid, but she said "“I believe that all business owners, Christian, Muslim, gay, straight, should be allowed to withhold their services from whomever that choose whenever they choose. It’s their business. Why should they be forced to serve or sell to anyone?”

It's a bit sad then when a paper jumps on it and makes it a sexist/gay issue. Typical. IMO her views are stupid, but she hasn't singled out gays or women, the Argus has done that for her!

'When asked by The Argus to clarify her statement the EU election hopeful said it would be ok for a shop owner to refuse to serve her based on no other fact than she was a woman, or if service was refused to a gay person'

Not sure the media needs too show these people up as nitwits, they seem to do it on their own with regularity.
Youre right...it is a stupid opinion.

The article as with all things UKIP has been taken completely out of context. If this was a religion saying the same thing, I doubt the reaction would be the same. I also bet you it wouldn't even get printed even if it was in Brighton. UKIP is an easy target, always has and always will be.

If members, councillors and senior members of a party, regularly come out with ridiculous statements, then yes, they will be an easy target

What can you see that so many cannot?

People see what they want to see. All UKIP have to do is a bit of fear-mongering about the EU and Immigration and act like they are the solution or pretend they are a viable alternative to the Torys, labour and the lib dems and people will happily ignore the underlying prejudice that is rife throughout the party.

Very poorly written. And a non-story. Yeah she's an imbecile, but so are millions of people.

All she is doing is following what very nearly became State law in Arizona.
It got thrown out by the governor at the 11th hour, but it was very close to becoming law.

I 'picked on it' due to the fact is is a fairly local councilor, and its on the front page of the Evening Argus.
I do not read the Telegraph.

The councillor in the Telegraph story, was expelled from the party.....

Yer, and she probably said it was fine if service was refused to a middle age christian white man as well, but again not very newsworthy to print that is it?

I guess if you meet her and pushed her on her views, it would probably turn out some leach of a journalist as missed quoted her and made a sexist and homophobic story where none existed.

I own an internet retail store, and if I so choose I can refuse to serve who I want. Makes no sense to do so, and I only ever done it twice is 5 years, purely on the basis that the person I was dealing with was a complete tw**. But on the basis of that argus story, had they happened to have been black/asian/female/gay that I would have been homophobic/racist or sexist, depending on how some leach decided to report it.

It's just the press trying to discredit UKIP, why because they are backed by the main parties, and the main parties are shitting themselves over UKIP (I am not UKIP by the way I am 100% tory)

The media is just a left-wing conspiracy out to get the little man, silent/moral majority, forcing their politically correct views down the throat of us decent upstanding individuals.
