1960's - QPR in Dec 1967. They had an audacious young talent at the time called Rodney Marsh.

I didn't go but wasn't he marked out of the game by a debutant called John Templeman? Whatever happened to him

November 1976 v. Wrexham (ergo the 1970s)

Just before my birthday and the infamous Palace replay - and we lost

My first was against Walsall in January 1967 - we lost that too

I put 1980's thinking that it was 1989 but having just looked it up on Soccerbase, it was actually January 1990 when we lost 2.1 away to Port Vale with Robert Codner scoring a cracking consolation.

Dreadful game and weather but something sparked inside me as a 7 year old as I fell in love with the club from that moment.

Don't remember exactly when, but my dad took me to an Albion/Chelsea match in the mid-70s, guessing around 74. The one and only time I sat in the South stand, and the only time my dad took me to a game. For some reason, even though he was a sports fan and a PE teacher, he never wanted to go to games (also, he ran a business open on Saturdays, so could not have gone anyway).

That was probably the FA Cup tie in Jan/Feb? 1973. Chelsea won 2-0 and had two goals disallowed if my memory serves me well. Oh, and Chelsea played in an unusual strip of red shirts, white shorts and green socks. No colour clash there!

Argh! Pressed the wrong button.

Put the 1990s but it was the 80s. 1989. 2-0 Albion v Port Vale.

1962, but my first visit to the Goldstone, I recall, was for a Brighton schoolboys match. Under 12s playing on a whacking full size pitch! Taken almost 50 years to stop this silliness.

70's for me.

Anyone who says the 60's or earlier is lying, because they would be far to old to operate a PC.

You have got a good memory, I was there and you are correct Templeman never let him have a kick all game, a fantastic debut for a player who stayed on for 7 years playing 226 games.
He then moved to Exeter and played 206 games for them.
