Well that looks pretty conclusive, doesn't it? If he doesn't get the passport, he can't come here - and if he does, he wants to stay in Spain?

I dont understand that as he must have an Argentinian passport the problem more likely would be a work permit unless he has played at international level.

He hasn't played at international level so needs an eu passport to be able to work in this country

Doesn't sound too encouraging in the Argus. Saying that there is a report from Almeria that his preference is to remain in Spain. Gus quoted as "If he gets the passport, then he wants to stay there (in Spain) we cannot do anything about it.

Substitute the word wants for decides and I think you'll get what Gus actually means. Apart from that I dont get the desperation of some to land a striker they had most likely never heard of before christmas. If he signs he signs, if not? well how many other unheard of strikers are there out there?

This has been a priority for 12 months now, 3 transfer windows and we're basically back to looking for loan deals. FFS Gus.

Getting quite tired of the statements to the media regarding how close we are to signing this striker, much prefer it if nobody from the club said anything until its made official tbh

Same old problem with us - we can't or won't sign a decent striker. I'm tired of hearing who we might be signing and the problems we're having. Just get on with it FFS. Other clubs don't seem to have the same level of difficulty.

As I have said on another thread about Ulloa I hope this is just being used to deflect interest from Gus actual target.

Do the think the club is that smart?

It's fairly obvious that we don't live in the psyche of Ulloa, so his determination to stay in Spain is unclear. Perhaps he does, but we were the well-paying option to depart and try something new. Then Granada turn up and claim an interest, and he has to calculate whether he would rather play in La Liga, not moving too far from home, get relegated, but show himself capable of performing in the summit of Spanish football and move to a bigger club next season. OR to go to a new country and have an adventure in a team half-full of Spanish-speakers thoroughly on the rise, who might play in the richest league in the world if he parachutes into their situation in top form. The choice will be his, won't it. He's not wrong to want as many options open to him as possible.
And Gus obviously wants him for the longterm, maybe thinking he was on the verge of nabbing him. He'll have the opportunity to get a hulk on loan nearer the end of the window and i think with more money in our pockets it'll be from the premier league rather than from a championship rival. And i like the idea that we have our eyes on other types of striker anyhow. Opens the door to another puzzling possibility.
It's not all this WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO US, sort of tragedy talk. We'll get someone.
