The numbers from yesterday are as follows :

£137,000 from ITV for the match on telly.
£70,000 from ITV for allowing them to put up the digital advertising boards.
£70,000 prize money from the FA.

How did you come by those figures?

When I spoke to one of the stewards, he said their only a temporary installation & their being removed this week

Didn't really mind them but they were a bit on the bright side, however if they help the club bring in extra money.. I'm all for it (assuming it helps us on the field)

At the end of my tether
I accept the need for revenue.....but the flashing & moving images are a BIG distraction and irritant (to me at least)

Electronics may be the way but do they need to flash and move ? Just be there and morph from one ad to another would be O K ..

I sat in WSL and noticed them when I first arrived but had forgotten about them by the time the game started.

If they bring in extra dosh then keep 'em.

Blimey, a way for the club to get more money in and people are moaning about it? FFS, do you spend all game worrying about the existing static boards? I couldn't care less about them, the only one that I've ever found annoying is one they use in the Champions League where a car appears to drive along the touchline.

All of you Luddites can sod off and sit in the East Stand, then you won't have to look at them. Me, I'll just enjoy the game and be grateful that the club are getting some money into the coffers that's not being raised from my pocket.

Any chance of swapping seats next time they use them? I spent the first 10 minutes yesterday thinking I was having a migraine attack - until my neighbours in the WSU said they had similar vision distortion problems.

isnt there also a rule that if you get into the champions league ( yes I know) the first 4 rows in a stadium near these advertising boards have to be left empty so they are visible with no distractions?

Not really commercialism gone mad then

No. The front rows in Champions league games are left empty because the boards are larger and therefore they would obstruct the fans' views in those seats.

I was distracted by the ones at Upton Park when we played there a few years back but yesterdays were no problem at all.

But then, the game was played in daylight.

That's not exactly the horses mouth is it? 'one' of the directors...think it needs to come from the complete board with a copy of the club accounts until i believe you.

First of all, the prize money is comfortably in the public domain on the FA website. Secondly. The fee paid by ITV is also information that is freely available, we're not unique, all teams get the same if the game is televised. The hoardings were subject of so much conjecture, made up guesses etc, that I asked the question of someone who would know, that's what he told me. Fr what it's worth, the corporate department said exactly the same to me on Friday, and when it came up,in conversation later with others they had been told the same figures.

It's up,to you what you believe, but two of my points are not secrets, they are published matters of fact. The point about the digital hoardings was corroborated to me twice by club staff, and was also discussed by others after the game, i really dont think any of it is a secret. I posted the details after some had speculated, questioned and asked.

Oookkkaaayyy....i believe you. I was being sarcastic and giving you a subtle compliment. Sorry if you didn't see that.

Digital Advertising

I thought it zapped up and down infront of the East Stand at lightning speed, very impressed. Wayne Bridge that is, and I quite liked the digital advertsing as well.
