Yes, my Auntie pointed him out as he rode past on his bike while we were having a drink outside (as you had to with kids in tow in those days) at the Norfolk Bridge Hotel - she referred to him as "The Toff". Probably coming up for 50 years ago at a guess. Does that seem about right time-wise?

Remember him when I were a lad and going out in the car with my mum and dad on one of our rare forays west of Brighton for a day out - probably to go on the miniature railway at Brooklands. Saw him at least a couple of times, dressed up to the nines cycling along in a sedate manner and giving Royal waves to all he passed - 40+ years ago

Often used to see him waving at traffic at the roundabouts at Teville Gate, Worthing in the early 90's when I used to walk to Worthing station to get the train to work.

We used to see Horace whenever we travelled westwards. Isn't it amazing that so many remember this man!

Meanwhile, does anyone know anything about the disco-dancing pensioner on the seafront?

The same time he was about there was a really tall black guy who used to play the mouth organ around Churchill sq. Another proper character.

Saw the walking man on Friday for the first time in ages.

DSC_8637_8_10_tonemapped-2.jpgThere's also this character i've seen around Brighton, dresses like someone from the early 1900's.
Had a chat with him seems a nice bloke he told me he works as a Milliner.

Who else misses the King's Head? The last Watney's pub to serve Tamplin's Sussex Bitter direct from a barrel sitting on the bar. And the best shove ha'penny board in Sussex.
