Completely agree. Hate LOL. You will never catch me lolling. Put it in room 101 along with people who close their eyes when talking.

LOL is ok for children and slightly dopey females. Any man using this term needs to stand in front of the mirror and have a long, hard chat with themselves! It's bent!!

I immediately block anyone on FB who uses it. I hate it with a passion. Then again I'm a grumpy old man who can't abide a lot of modern language. I think my pet hate is "chill".
For example, "What are you planning on this weekend then?"
"Not much, just going to chill out".
If a heart attack were to occur at the time of said "chilling", I might be prompted to effing LOL!!!!!!

Chillax man! :jester:

Just to be clear, I'm with the old farts on this one - splattering your posts with diarrhoea such as LOL should be left to teenagers, tarts and 'tards

Hither (sometimes Thither)
For me any LOL is the symbol of a lull in comedy. They're never to be believed and more a sign of a pity laugh than the hysterics it perhaps first meant to make out.
For me, i'm a heh, a hehe, a haha and a hahaha man, the latter when something actually makes me truly guffaw - that usually involves one of the dressed dogs threads or the tale of someone pooing themselves.

Can we stop using this ridiculous 'word' please?

In most cases you are not LOLing, you're probably not even smiling slightly. And don't LOL at something you've written yourself - that's just arrogant - let everyone else judge the humour (or lack of) in your mutterings.

So stop it, please, or it will join 'the c word' in NSC's blacklist that gets auto-censored.

Any particular instance that has tipped you over the edge, Bozza?

Lol. I usually say haha but I thought it'd be more appropriate to use lol. If I am laughing why can't I say LOL?

When you speak to someone, you don't actually say "TALK".

So why say "LOL" when you laugh? Unless you actually do exclaim the word "LOL" out loud when you laugh...? Haha is much more logical.

Maybe adding a "like" button for posts would take out some of the LOL's. I like to quote people and "lol" them to let them know their post was appreciated.
