Most exciting player in over 30 years, probably our best ever player, we have NO CHANCE of finding another one whilst we are in this division. But you know that

Vicente was simply awesome last night and pulled all the strings in our team. At the risk of stating the obvious, we need to do everything possible to keep him fit this year. I still can't quite believe that he plays for us. A superb player.

While I understand the point re: losing creativity when Vicente came off, we were also missing Buckley and LuaLua, two of our most creative players.

And it was a testimonial that looked nowhere near as competitive as the Chelsea game to me. Far slower pace and no one (at least one our side) really willing to go in for robust tackles.

Thought it was a good workout last night. Vicente was class, Bruno looked very good. The movement as whole in the first hour was very encouraging, we did look good going forward. Good to see crofts back too.

One negative was yet another defensive howler from Dunk who had an otherwise decent game.

I thought the ground looked stunning and I cannot wait for that Cardiff game, it will be rocking. If you do not have a ticket get one, it will be special!

If that is the case (I wasn't there) why were we putting the crosses in like that?

I agree with everything you say. I would add that Barnes and Vicente seem to be striking up a great understanding and barring one minor dalliance, Dicker was also quietly very good.

My biggest worry is that Dunk has now made three AWFUL mistakes in two matches. The quality of the opposition is irrelevant too because they would have been capitalised on by Hastings, let alone Chelsea. It was no shock that after his error, El-Abd was sent out straight away to warm up and then Dunk was subbed off shortly after.

I know friendlies mean nothing but I would still prefer El-Abd ahead of Dunk because I think El-Abd has better concentration (I do also think Dunk is excellent, but he does have defensive Lynch-esque lapses). I also thought Noone was a little disappointing, as usual there was great running but with the exception of one great far-post cross almost no decent end product at all.

On a positive note though, Kuszczak, Bruno, Greer, Dicker, Calderon, and Crofts were very solid, Vicente, Barnes and Bridcutt were exceptional as against Chelsea. Things are looking very positive so far!
