This, in large amounts THIS.

If the media ask Gus a question about this and he starts his answer with, "Well in South America it is seen as" someone should pull the lead out of the wall.

Look at the positives, not sure any clubs would make an approach this Summer if he says something - amen the season has finished, less press conferences.

We might be out of kilter with most of the world. But that does not mean most of the world are right. When in Rome and all that...It could be that most of the world are way behind, which they clearly are when you watch the news.
Indeed I agree. But it does explain why so many people say things that aren't acceptable here.

Nope. Some obsess about it beyond the point of embarrassing, others see this as great troll bait.

A comment so good it makes me moist. PC brigade, take a hike.

You know what, I 100% agree, the whole country is to pc it's pathetic...If you call someone a poofter your homophobic, if you call someone a black whatever you are racist, if someone called me a short arse, or a fat bastard would that make them shortest or fattest...Either way I couldn't care less. But people can't have it all ways. It's the world we live in, for better or worse and if you fortunate enough to be in the public eye then it is something you should be very aware of, for better or worse.

Agree with this, worlds gone bloody mad with PC and people jump on the band wagon.
It also appears only black people can take offence

I don't know about that. The gay community aren't to slow on jumping on the bandwagon when someone say's something they don't like.

It's like an epiphany.

It works at both ends of communication: if people took responsibility for how their words land with others, and practised having words intended to hurt them be like water off a duck's back, the world would be a better place. There is a much bigger conversation to be had than whether something is or isn't racism or homophobia or sexism etc and that's to do with being OK with others no matter what, even if they are not OK with you.

Not quite as straight forward as that. The FA examined the context in which the word was used and it was that that provided their justification for the ban. It wasn't the mere use of the word that led to Suarez being punished. In the full report of their investigation, the FA also made it clear they did not relate to Suarez as a racist.

Yes very true. Sounds like Drenthe thinks messi used it the same way though... Why else would he tell the world?
