Prem Strikers out of contract at end of the season, any you would fancy?

Tuncay Sanli, 30 Years, Bolton
Michael Owen, 32 Years, Man United
Andy Johnson, 31 Years, Fulham
Pavel Pogrebnyak, 28 Years, Fulham
Marc-Antoine Fortuné, 30 Years, West Brom
James McFadden, 28 Years, Everton
Emile Heskey, 34 Years, Aston Villa
Kevin Davies, 35 Years, Bolton
Ricardo Fuller, 32 Years, Stoke

AJ would be interesting given his Palace heritage...

Marcus Tudgay would make some great headlines..on NSC anyway.

Does anyone else rate Harry Arter the Bomo striker?

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is actually a fantastic shout. Prolific in the Championship for both Plymouth and Wolves, he is small, quick and strong and Wolves will be having a clear out in the summer and could be available. He might look at us as being a sideways step, Championship to Championship. But I suspect he could be romantically wooed by Gus.

I hope all potential signings are approved by Warren Aspinall though. Think of the trouble the great man could have with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake! :lolol:

Costa fortune as a replica shirt too.

Such a tough one, but agree with the general sentiment that we aim for a proven scorer that's heading for the end of their career .. someone with the pedigree of Roberts or Phillips, otherwise it becomes too much of a gamble. Yakubu is another one but more likely to move to a Fulham or Villa. I think we'll struggle though, there aren't many around and they'll cost way too much unless TB wants to take a punt, but it's dodgy (see Leicester) and I don't think he's got the kind of money to piss what it'll need up the wall

He definitely HAS got the money, but is looking to build this club gradually, sensibly and sustainably.

A Danny Graham type player, without doubt. The technical ability and presence to hold the ball up, link play - along with intelligent movement and clinical finishing. Absolute gold-dust though, for a passing side. Such rounded strikers come at a cost, and I doubt there are many realistically available in this country (who would cut it in the Championship). Best bet might be to look abroad, as mentioned above.

Somewhere near Reading...
To all them people who want Rhodes(35 goals) and Evans(28 goals) so far this season. Just remember one thing..£3.25million Craig Mackail-Smith scored more than both of them last season.....Taking a punt on a lower league striker can sometimes pay off, but there is no substitute for experience...Next season for me, Heskey or Rhodes.....Heskey everytime, if we are in Championship.

This very much. We need someone proven at championship/prem level, not a league one wonder, as we already have two of those

I'd take Ricardo Fuller - down the pecking order at Stoke and not on silly wages and fit again (temper is a bit of a worry though) maybe also ask about keeper Carlo Nash who's 3rd Choice, has bags of experience and is 6ft 5... or get in Steve Harper again.

As I've said on another thread I would keep CMS and go for a Grant McCann type to create opportunities and score goals from midfield. It fits in with the way Gus seems determined to play.

If we sign another striker I am firmly in the "experience" camp and Ricky Fuller is not a bad shout. I would also suggest a look at big Emile. I think he could do a great job at this level.
Alongside them I'd like to see the likes of Agdestein, Barker and Bergkamp given the time and the opportunity whether to blossom or fail

Amazing what's on here, "compare and contrast" to about six months ago.

CMS was the Anointed One, and FFS was the Devil Incarnate.

You really are a fickle lot, aren't you?

I think Craig will be more settled and use to our style next season, so i dont think a striker would be my preference and i think that given a run of games Will Hoskins will start scoring.
BUT it wouldn't do any harm signing an experienced striker who has been there and done it, I'd be over the moon if we signed Kevin Davis or Fuller.

If Huddersfield bottle it again, I would love to take Jordan Rhodes from them. Maybe even Madine from Sheffield Wednesday would be a ideal choice.
Madine is very ordinary, even at league one level. Carlisle fans were pissing themselves when Sheff Wed paid £500k for him.

Jordan Rhodes could be good (Lambert?), but could be very ordinary (CMS?) in the Championship. Huddersfield would want a lot for him if they let him go, and that rules out any remotely prudent club - which probably means he'll end up sinking or swimming at Leicester.
