would imagine that a lot of those in the away end were london/south based and hardly go to games

SJP has a brilliant atmosphere, and they generally have very vocal support at away games

I bigged the 'Toon' army last week to my boy, saying how loud, passionate and knowlegable about the game, adding how friendly they were.

We met quite a few on the pier as we were having our cockles and mussells (alive alive ho!), and most semed to look down at us, not wanting to chat or take any pointers of pre match pubs etc.

More a case of 'We're the Toon, and we'll do what we f***ing like'.

Inside the ground, they were top shit. Totally souless.

Their epitome for me was at Falmer station, when they started singing 'HIV Albion'.

Toon Army, you're nothing special boys.

From the WSU at the south end I have to say that they sounded pretty loud until mid way through the second half but there wasn't a peep out of them once they went behind.

Worst away fans so far this season at the Amex. Would of thought after coming all that way they would've done more than one song in the first half then nothing in the second.

Not as bad as Burnley, no?

Passionate Geordie fans, is just a myth. Have attended a Newcastle v Sunderland game at St James Park and whilst there was 'normal derby hatred', the noise level was incredibly average, certainly not as good as the Amex, Maine Road or St Mary's.

Condescending chant of 'you're just a team full of Brambles' on the way from the Station to the game...strangely not on the way back

I saw a few that were so pissed they had trouble standing up let alone sing. Not sure if they could find the Amex and they were at falmer station

Had to laugh at the homophobic and general abuse some of their wonderful Geordie fans were dishing out to the Mill Rd p'n'r queue after the game from the safety of being behind the fence and then in their coach. Didn't look too interested when me, my brother and a few other Brighton gave it back. Total wankers, total lack of class.

Must admit looking at their forums last night, they were probably the most bitter fans to visit the Amex this season.

OK, most comments were probably from people watching on TV, but it was just abuse and vitriol. I didn't see a comment that didn't refer to us as s**t, they came across as really bitter and twisted, without any humour anything you could call likeable.

I'm disappointed really. I have a Geordie missus, and got one of those half and half scarf things (that I normally dislike) because our kids are half Geordie (but both in Gully's Gang of course!). Seriously put me off them a bit yesterday.

They sounded pretty loud from the south end of the East Stand, only going quiet when we started bossing the game in the second half then scored.

I thought they were very entertaining, with lots of individual loons making arses of themselves......as they should do.

I sat in the North Stand for the Sunderland game, I could see they were singing, but couldn't hear anything. The Geordies were singing "shall we sing a song for you" in the first half, while the North Stand was in full voice, they obviously can't hear each other from both ends.

I noticed that too. We have got absolutely no recognition at all for the way we defended, and the way we came back. Fact is we might have grabbed another couple of goals in the second half yesterday. I get the impression from some of the media and some of these old crusty ex-players is, little old Brighton punching above our weight. Why don't they f*** off and read up about us more and learn about our history. The reason we have been little old Brighton, is because we have been without proper facilities for the last 20 years.

Me too. I don't know if its because all these forums have idiots on them, but even their support was very quiet yesterday which I am surprised about. Are premiership supporters may be just too spoilt these days?

Our support yesterday was awful, in 50 away games or so that I have been to, yesterday was one of the worst. There was around 200 of us at the back singing but the rest were stood still in absolute silence. Our end was full of Southerners who hadn't been to a game in their life as well, which never helped things.

Shame really.

What's all the fuss about? I thought they were meant to be one of the loudest and most intimidating sets of fans in the country. Quite a pathetic effort from the travelling Geordie masses I thought.

All hype, no noise.

You forgot to add deluded. The media hype that goes with them is pathetic trouble is they all believe it.

I was in the wsl near the South Stand.
Until we scored they were loud. If we are loud you can't always hear the away fans. Understand.
Yeah, I said on the other thread my son, who I normally sit with when he comes, was in the East next to the away end and said they were loud. I was in WSU next to the North stand and apart from a bit of muted buzzing (I think they may have sung 'Geordies' to Hey Jude) I heard absolutely nothing.

Was a horrible trip home like, the way there wasn't so bad. Got home at 20 to 4.
Thats un-real and you deserve a lot of credit for that, sometimes when you travel so far and play average its no surprise fans can't muster up some energy for singing:)

These fans have forked out a fortune and you get people on here slating them UNREAL:annoyed:
