we can buy him at any point for the agreed price with newcastle we do not have to wait until jan to do this, why are people saying we have to wait till then ????
I imagine there'd be nothing to gain by buying him before January. If we buy him early, then he gets a serious injury, we've wasted our money. So if all is good, it stands to reason we'll buy him in January.

Because he's still got an injury. A fee was agreed, but when he failed the medical we couldn't risk the price tag, so we've got a deal where if his injury doesn't look like a problem when January comes, we pay the money and keep him. If the injury is a problem, we don't (or at least we re-negotiate).

It's not easy to compare with what other clubs have done with loan deals. This isn't like a big club loaning out a great young talent to get some match practice before coming back, Newcastle didn't want him, we wanted to buy him.
You can be sure that the fee for January has already been agreed, and Newcastle can't increase it.

Probably as near to the truth as we may get

I do find it odd that we have never, seemingly, faced any competition for his services. You would think that at least one or two clubs might take an interest and fight us for him.

I 100% agree i wouldnt risk buying him right away as he could pick up another serious injury which could cost us alot in the long run.

Has a price been decided if we want to sign him Jan? If not and he sets this division alight, then Newcastle will either keep him or another club will come in and buy him.
Which is the bigger gamble, wait and see if he stays fit or possibly lose him to another club?

Loans with a view to a permanent already have the fee agreed. Even if he scores 20 goals and gets 50 assists between now and January Newcastle cannot change that fee or change their mind about whether they wish to sell him or not. The only sticking point may be Lua Lua's wage demands if he does go on to have a very good 6 months. Rest assured that Newcastle cannot affect any deal now.

Transfer window closes at the end of this month. Presumably, if we wanted to buy him before then, the original agreement would have to be voided by all parties.

It's not mine to spend but if it were i would have purchased him by now-for £1.25m(can't wait to see the fee).

-he is by nature a player likely to attract treatment in more ways than one over the course of the season-there is a reason he is not here under permanent contract... The reason this has not happened so far might not be the reason any of us are speculating at all...who knows what restrictions are at the Newcastle end.But i am in agreement with Triggaaar

A Worry? Players or their agents will always look for the highest wage they can possibly get. One hopes that KLL is a man of honour.

We won't recall him, there's no way the tight ***** running us would risk the potential deal in January falling through and him going at the end of the season for free.

Also, can't players refuse to be 'recalled' from a loan?

I remember Lomano Lua Lua refusing to come back to us from Portsmouth just before our Uefa Cup semi final game against Marseille in 2004 which elft us short of strikers and ended up to be our downfall. Don't think he played for us again after that...

I'd imagine a few have inquired about him, but when the lad himself has been so public about only wanting to go to Brighton and we have the resources to get him, it would have to have been some competition to drag him away.
