Greenland National Football Team

Association football is the national sport of Greenland. The governing body, the Football Association of Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaanni Arsaattartut Kattuffiat), is not yet a member of FIFA because it cannot grow grass for regulation grass pitches. It is a member of the N.F.-Board.

Seems a bit harsh they can't play national football just because they can't grow proper grass, I swear Faroe Islands have the same problem, but they still get to enter?! If they could put down fake grass and be allowed to enter European qualifying I wouldn't see a problem, they have more a higher population than other nations who enter so why not? And there are 53 teams atm, another team would be 54 which is divisible by 6, right now we have 1 group of 5 in the Euro Qualifying process so that would come in handy. Anyone else think this or am I mad?

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Blatter, the bliethering fool, possibly believes that Father Christmas is more popular to the children of this world, that he so wants to help. Greenland, does not stand a chance.

Odd name for a country, if they can't grow 'proper' grass.

What about suitable conditions for active pursuits? FIFA are quite happy for humongous air conditioning units to make their Qatar adventure work, so why not offer to help Greenland build some sort of Eden project arena to make the game entirely inclusive?

If FIFA are fussy about the grass then they could just let them play away games, I mean it's only 10 games over the space of nearly 2 years. Just can't see why FIFA aren't even bothered, I mean they must be better than the likes of San Marino or Andorra?!

So do you want to offer them the AMEX in which to play their "home" games ?
It's certainly no more bizarre than having Brazil playing games iv countries other than England in London

I would go if Greenland were playing Croatia at the Amex, why not?

Didn't England play Russia on a 3G pitch in a Euro qualifier in 2007 ?

Couldn't Greenland could go down that route ?

Oh God yes - I would too
Let's face it - a 22.5 K capacity would (probably) be enough for them.
Could be the next stage after the u16 and u19 internationals we're supposed to be hosting

Depends if the Greenland FA has greased enough palms I expect - not that I am in any way shape or form suggesting that that ever happens.

Same in cricket, England U19s play at Hove, even sometimes at Arundel!

Generally an idea worth considering about U19s at Amex, and as for Greenland, could they fly over to Iceland and play their home games there?

Any other Euro nations not got a team, to whom admitting one but not the other would be fair? Is Greenland not part of Denmark still or am I mad?

Do they have the money though?

No idea.

I doubt the cost of the pitch itself would be an issue for them, but the stadium to go with it might ?

over there land mass who has more ice Iceland or Greenland

Wikipedia says Ice covers 81 % of Greenland's land mass, the only green rocky land is found round the edge (generally on the west side) Can't find anything about Iceland.

That's the problem, as far as I'm aware Greenland don't have a stadium, the closest they've got is a 2000 capacity football ground in the capital, where most of the spectators sit on the hills around the ground.

Perhaps FIFA could help fund it.
