Dis you get anything in Durrington? Just seeing how far in land it made it. We had a twenty minute flurry in West Worthing.

I think we had a few flakes, as there were some on the ground when we got home from walking the dog.

Some of the latest models has quite a lot of snow here from Tues to Thurs this week, fyi.

Excellent - how widespread through Sussex do you expect it to be?

To answer a few questions in 1, IF those particular model runs happen there would be extensive frontal snow anywhere south of Bristol to the Wash, with the heaviest possibly down here. This all depends upon the low that's developing to out south coming close to us, and a strong easterly wind developing.

Is there snow due in Brighton soon - nothing specific is forecast. We all need the wind to pick up from the east to get showers pushing over to Sussex. As I said, Tues to Thurs could see more organised and substantial snow.

A v S - I don't know where you live, but altitude often increases the amount of precipitation, and lowers the temp, so depending on where you are, it will help. Whether you can get home depends upon your commute, but I can't say anything at this range, as small changes in the model output could change things dramatically.

One thing to note, we might see some record low temps (for the time of year) in the UK over the next week.

Cheers Papa, live quite high up on outskirts in Brighton and i nearly didn't make it home at all last time it snowed so not keen on it. It is bloody freezing here compared to Central Brighton

We all know that if the temps are below freezing it doesn't take much to halt the buses, especially on the hilly routes round Brighton. I would say we will see some disruption at some point this week.

That is true, Although the council always deem it more important to grit the road by Marks & Spencer than hilly areas where old people could be stranded and house bound.

Right guys... the first signs of 'Thames Streamers' are showing up on the radar imagery.

Will it Rain Today? | Rain radar for the UK | Going to rain? | Meteogroup

With the wind in a NNE direction at the moment these will (once estblished) affect Eastbourne eastwards mainly. I think Hastings has seen some snow from one already.

The general forecast for the next 4 days (to Thurs) is for the wind to turn into the E, with increased chance of snow showers and these streamers right across the SE, with the added complication of trough and front being thrown up and over us from the low in France.

Couple that with very cold temps, and a strengthening wind, and we're in for an interesting week.

Back in Sussex
It was like driving through Narnia coming up past Bristol Airport this morning. It's amazing the difference a small bit of altitude makes to the settling and with the temperatures staying low over the weekend it's not gone anywhere. The car was registering -4 as I drove through the Winter wonderland

Sensing it was a bit chilly, I took the precaution of wearing a t-shirt under my thin shirt today. It's still not quite cold enough to consider a hat, gloves or a coat obviously.

Nice. So far there's not been a lot in Sussex (well, away from the far SE), but hopefully we'll be joining you in Narnia (I assume you mean - The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe during the perpetual winter).

Meopham, Kent.
Papa, do you realise that a combination of snow being the only weather that interests me, and you brilliant knowledge, YOU have become my main (possibly only) source of weather forecasting. The Met Office? Pah, I listen to Papa.

Btw, not being a Brightonian these days, I tend to work on the basis that if Brighton is getting any, I'm bound to on the high grounds of North Kent, but if you could throw in a quick forecast for Meopham, Kent for this week, that would be fab.
