Now I know that this thread is worthless without pictures, but word reaches me that what looks suspiciously like and UNPAINTED section of the other end of our arch has just been spotted en route.

Now before JS cashes in some flexi time, it should be said that this report comes from a mobile NSCer at 12.05pm this afternoon on the A1 southbound near Doncaster.

Can any A1 based reporters confirm this sighting?

Can Natterjack confirm that the arch is put together somewhere up north and painted somewhere else before arriving here?

Oh and BTW if you are out and about on Falmer Arch Watch, please make sure you have your camera with you at all times

Sure NJ mentioned at one point that it comes from Bolton, right next to the Reebok

I think Perry has mentioned this in one of his Falmer videos too. I've definately heard it somewhere.

If I were a Bolton fan I would be worried. We are dismantling their ground.

Seriously though, why would it go down the A1 and not m6/M1?

I'm sure it was NJ who told us that they are manufactured in Bolton, right next to the Reebok.

Perhaps they are route for painting prior to coming here ?

The 3rd section of arch was probably being transported from where it's put together to the nearby painting company - both in Bolton somewhere.

The temporary supporting columns (in the East Stand) will be erected before it makes an appearance on site though.

When will they be erected NJ?

I saw a lorry load of bricks and a truck with a Portakabin on the back going down the A23 earlier.

If that helps.

Not 100%, but soon - the middle section is nearly completed.

I did get some photo's today but the works camera is playing up. I'll post the ones that are OK shortly and re-do the others tomorrow (sadly the middle arch section is amongst the missing ones )

Cheers.

An update...

As the roving reporter responsible for Barry's initial post on this thread, I was starting too get a little concerned that my observations whilst heading north on Monday may have been wasted...

Well imagine my delight whilst returning south on the A1 at 11:20 hours today when I spotted the same structure but this time parked up in a layby and now resplendent in its shiny white coat...

A quick panic ensued, I couldn't report back to Barry again as he would never believe me twice in a week. So it was off at the next junction, back over the A1, northbound for 2 miles, back over the A1, then southbound and pulling over into the layby - phew it was still there.
The driver of the escort vehicle was wandering back to his cab, I wound the window down and called to him "Are you going to Brighton mate?", his repsonse was "Aye mate, but you want to get a chuffing move on as we're just leaving and you don't want to get stuck behind us", little did he know that it would be a priveledge to be stuck behind a structure that will be partially responsible for keeping me dry whilst watching football!!

So I pulled over and grabbed a few pictures using the camera in my BlackBerry - they're not brilliant but at least they are proof (hopefully they have attached properly as well). And if there are any police reading this, my co-driver (ahem!!!) took the ones whilst I was driving along...
