Now this is something different:

Adams places squad on transfer list.

Sat, 26 Sep 19:54:23 2009

Port Vale boss Micky Adams responded to his side's 3-1 loss to Notts County by placing his entire squad on the transfer list.

A brace from Lee Hughes and a Lee Collins own goal gave the Magpies victory and the visitors' manager was furious about the tame way his side were defeated for a third time in a week.

Adams said: "We weren't good enough and it won't be tolerated. I'm putting everyone on the transfer list and I've told them so.

"When you come to a place like Meadow Lane with all their quality and riches you cannot role over and have your bellies tickled for you.

"I'm telling it how it is and we'll see how good our players are now. It will be fascinating to see how many offers we get for them.

"I think you can go along with things for so long but I'm not willing to do that any more. We are in a privileged position as professionals. There are hundreds of footballers who don't have a job and if our players don't want to take the profession seriously I don't want them at this club."

imagine if he'd have done that when he was here :laugh:

this place would have gone nuts if he had done that while here, what is most bizzarre is that this is all happening while the transfer window is shut!

I think it is a brave move by Micky and good to show players their jobs are not safe. Unsure I would have liked it to happen when he was with us but it may have put the fire back into some of those boots!

He is obviously bluffing as they all could simply refuse to move and see out thier contracts. Ok he could play the youths and get spanked every week but he would be the one out of a job then.

He sounded very sad in that interview. Its up to him to get the best out of his squad, its no good saying that they arn't his players and sack the lot of them, I can't see Vale having the finances to replace a complete squad and he surely knew what players he had when he applied for the job.

He needs to pull his finger out, his management nearly saw us relegated and now it looks like the same thing is happening at Port Vale.

Not really the same thing because we had a squad that finished 7'th the previous season compared to their 17'th (??), Port vale fans think their team is utter shite, read their forum and you'll see that they don't really blame Adams and many think its their worst side for 20 years.

My question still hasn't been answered, Why do albion fans seem to revel in his downfall?

It's just a gesture.Nobody would actually sign any of his players.Bit like the clown at Hull when he harangued his team on the pitch at hallf time.

Perhaps they should partner up when the P45's arrive in the near future.
