Brighton factually.....
I simply do not understand after however long it took them to come to their decision initially to then make legal errors.

what type of legal errors? I would not be surprised if they were typo type errors that were something of nothing, but through a legal loop hole could be challenged.

Football’s run oddly. UEFA, PL and FA dish out punishments to clubs, then invariably reduce at appeal. When at very long drawn out initial hearings both sides have plenty of time to air facts, mitigation etc. Then later on punishments are reduced.

This was inevitable.

A cynic might say that the small army of officials and QC’s love the money and being part of the news.

Well, this is a great precedent. Coming shortly, no doubt:

"Manchester City have been found guilty of numerous breaches of FFP and have been deducted 90 points, effectively relegating them"

*Man City appeal*

"Manchester City have been successful with some of the cases they appealed on technical grounds. The punishment has been downgraded to a three point deduction and a one game touchline ban for Pep Guardiola"

The PL got bored of hearing the scousers squeal about it being unfair I imagine.

Yes, the "corrupt" messaging, was very successful.

The PL absolutely do not want their brand next to this word.

This was a compromise conclusion

thought this was the opportunity everyone wanted to see Everton finally leave the prem. They've been there since year dot which is applauded by some while others just see them as having a opportunity where they have never done anything of note. They are so boring. Give someone else a shot.

The second points deduction would be added this season I believe?
Yes, exactly. For accounts up until 2023. It is very possible though their successful appeal in this first one will lessen the charge on the second but we could still hope they will have another 6 points deducted (although they would no doubt appeal that too). Forest also face a possible points deduction- the bottom of the table could still be very fluid if that hapoens.

I would love Luton to stay up.

One of the football correspondents on 5 Live predicted about a month or so ago that Everton's points deduction would most likely be reduced on appeal.

Genuinely, what a waste of everybody's time. Just decide upon a sanction, make sure it is appropriate, proportionate and watertight and stick to it.

England fan aren't I. I appreciate that isn't a great reason given that I wish that waistcoat wearing Palace **** from Crawley would f*** off but it's mine and I'm sticking to it.
Well, I considered that but you put (occasional) England striker DCL on your list-of-hate.

Second charge *should* see a larger punishment as well.

Maybe that's the line of thought from the PL, give them 4 back now then hit them with another 10-12 points - which will be reduced to 6-8

I'd like Luton to stay up as well, but if you can't stay up with 2 clubs being deducted points you don't really deserve to

What will be interesting is how Leicester approach this now, Everton are on the verge of going under, more legal action could see this happen

An utter farce from beginning to end. No sympathy with Everton at all and it's a joke they have bleated their way to a reduction.

I assume Forest will be deducted a similar amount now that the precedent has been set.

When City are finally dealt with I fully expect them to be relegated at least one division. The annoying thing is they will continue to win for the next few years whilst they drag it out.

Makes the Prem look weak and silly dishing out a punishment, and then backtracking. What new info has been presented in the appeal that couldnt have been in the original process?

Still yet to hear anyone connected with Everton go anywhere near saying that IF they have broken rules then fair enough some sort of punishment is due. Every single opinion seems to be that its just corruption from the Prem, picking on a club where they feel they can get away with it.

Any time a free kick went against them on saturday the corruption songs and banners some out, but then get promptly tucked away when Gilmour is sent off and they're winning.

I love Pickford for England but hate him at club level. Same with Grealish!l, although he’s gown on me and seems a decent fella these days with the disadvantages kids etc.
