An Italian man has been removed from the UK despite holding a Home Office certificate explicitly stating he has a right to travel in and out of the country while officials process his application to live and work in the country post-Brexit.

Massimiliano Melargo, 27, told how he was detained overnight, separated from his Ukrainian partner, and put on the first plane to Venice by Border Force officials in a step lawyers say contravenes the withdrawal agreement between the EU and the UK.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Meanwhile a handful of Council's could bump up their council tax by 10%....
Central government have cut back on its contribution to local councils, hoping that many go bankrupt allowing them to land grab for SEZs.

So Labour dumps the £28bn eco pledge - the one policy anyone has ever heard of - and there’s not a peep from the Starmer fan boys on this thread.. funny that

You’ll want the Starmer thread. Not the Tory meltdown thread…..funny that.

Though I could put on here that he’s hasn’t “dumped” the pledges totally, as I first thought. He’s adjusted the budget to allow for the massive f*** up the Tory’s have made of the economy.

Protesters who wear masks could face arrest, up to a month in jail and a £1,000 fine under proposed measures that human rights campaigners claim are pandering to “culture war nonsense”.

Police in England and Wales will be given the power to arrest people if they are wearing face coverings at specific demonstrations, the Home Office has said.

These guys could be in trouble next time then.

Actually not an awful policy given what we've seen on the streets in past few years in protests.

I quite like the police to identify trouble makers after the event if needed.

A month in prison for wearing a face covering?
In 2020 they were nicking you for not wearing one.
