Not sure if any of you have seen this in the Argus, it's about the abandoned bits of the King Alfred. Check out the photo gallery. I remember the bowling alley and the Laser Warriors thing; I'd assumed the space had all been re-used but no, apparently it was all just abandoned and left to rot.

incredible stuff. I went to both the bowling alley and the laser place (was it called "Megazone"?)

It must be such a big premises to have housed both, mad that it's been left empty for what, 20 years?

Where I spent much of my youth !

There was /( is?) a whole other area which was a warren of corridors and little rooms just next to the bowling alley. No pics of this in the article.

Wow. Used to go every other week Bowling back in the early 80s with my cousins, although i seem to remember we used to spend more time playing Defender and Scramble on the arcade machines.

Remember bowling there many moons ago. Nice vibe and the Lazer Quest area. Always thought the ceiling was disconcertingly low when you were making your approach.

OK, who was the perv in the office who put up all the Page 3 and glamour posters in photo #21 ?! 😁

Great pics of the centre though - and like others - takes me back to happy teenage days spent there.

How very odd, that when everything got stripped out / binned / lost / stolen they left ONE ball behind, for the photographer!

A friend of mine worked as a mechanic/maintenance operative in the bowling alley, I went behind the scenes where the skittles were loaded and all the walls there were plastered from top to bottom with porn!

Worthing
I won a ten pin bowling Sussex title ( in the 160 to 170 average group) there in 1978. Hated the place though. It was so claustrophobic.
