I think it's made it a lot more likely that planning permission for a future development on the land between this and the stadium (where the hotel proposal was refused) is granted.

Fair play to Mr Bennett, you can see why he wanted to kick us out of the car park. A fair few bob earned from this. Good luck to those students wanting to get in and out on match day. Shame that this is going to make the cosmetics of the view of the stadium less attractive.

Here
I presume the design will be approved/has been approved in a manner that is consistent with the Council's previous decision when they turned down the application by the club to build a hotel on site on the grounds that it was "architecturally inappropriate" and "related poorly to the adjoining stadium"???

Blimey, 555 units and no parking!

I always thought this was a bargaining chip for the applicant, to try and force us to buy the land for more than it was worth.

The value of that parcel has just increased substantially.

Appeal decision is here: https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ViewCase.aspx?Caseid=3315253&CoID=0

Different authorities. B&H turned down the hotel but Lewes have approved that.
The word spiteful springs to mind. That said I did think the hotel plan was ill thought through. It dip appear a bit cheap and would have diminished the look, much like these student buildings.

Would be the ultimate irony if the club were to raise an objection :lolol:

Is the part of the car park that we currently use owned by the club or just leasing it?
Brighton own the southern quarter and will be left as it is at the moment until the hotel/offices site comes forward again.

Given that tall monstrosity a plus for the Albion is that they should be able to get permission in that area for whatever they want now. The Fan Zone should be a doddle!

Can we ask PotG to get this onto the Old Brighton Postcard thread, so we can already say how much nicer it looked as a car park than those hideous monstrosity student blocks that were somehow allowed through planning ……!
