From a transport perspective, actually it doesn’t. Gillingham wins from it’s the journey, not the destination, stakes!

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Certainly for those of us Susses based, travelling to the Amex is far easier, and quicker, even allowing for potential parking problems, and public transport delays/cancellations.

I voted no, because I live close enough to walk to and from the amex in the time it takes some people to just get on the train. I realise this sounds like a brag, but it was more intended to note that people like me may skew the poll a little.

If finances enable you to do it, l'd strongly advise you to stick with Seagulls Travel. My NWSS season ticket isn't cheap either, but nothing beats gliding to and from games in your own comfy coach seat, and only having to walk a few yards to sthe stadium.

Every time we drive out of the coach park after games l glance over at the never ending queues of fans all waiting hopefully for their P & R bus back to Mill Road or the Racecourse and wonder how long they will have to wait. I even allow myself a self satisfied smirk on occasions especially if it's peeing down with rain!

Probably stick with it, it’s convenient and comfortable and no element of rush to leave. It’s a bit annoying that the travel subsidiary that we are paying already can’t be redirected to the clubs official transport partner though!

Having moved to worthing at the end of Sept I've found getting to games a ridiculous slog, when it really shouldn't be. 4 carriage trains twice an hour when a game is on means standing room only, assuming you can squeeze on to the train.

Passion for the Albion means I'll keep going but it is already becoming a bit of a chore rather than a delight. THe Mrs also has a ST and she is a football flight risk as the rubbish trains are really annoying her.

I go on my bike when it's not raining. Which fortunately seems to be the majority of the time.

When it's been frosty I've got the P&R but when it's hammering it down I just don't go.

The football keeps me going back. Love it. If we were serving up the 'entertainment' of Hyypia and had these issues then I probably wouldn't resign. I did go through those times and didn't have a bike so would always train/P&R so it's got a lot worse over the years.

Even so it must be a lot easier than travelling from your former home town!

If your not unfit one option is to park in Withdean near the London road and walk direct to the stadium along Carden Avenue and across or round Wild Park.

3 miles is not much of a stretch and can be done in 50mins, far quicker than waiting for the buses.

I know I'm no longer a ST holder but for the 5 or 6 games a season I get to, this is the easiest way for me.

You make a good point. Getting from Mid Sussex to Gillingham on many occasions took less time than it does to the Amex from Mid Sussex.

It's certainly a factor - I'm not ditching my ST yet, but if transport gets any worse, who knows.

What annoys me is that part of our ticket price goes towards subsidising transport, yet PB gets upset when the issue of transport is raised and claims the club has no responsibility over it.....

Was quite a big factor in giving ours up two seasons ago.

Wasn't the sole factor though. VAR was pretty high up on the list too.

Fan experience getting to and from the ground is probably one of the worst in the football league. The only reason we accept this joke is because we were homeless for so long.

To actually answer the question, I would have an ST if getting there was viable. I live in Hove.

Not sure if Brighton have played at the new ground but getting from Horwich Parkway (Boltons ground) to either Manchester or Preston makes Falmer to Brighton/Lewes etc look a walk in the park!

Yeovil isn’t exactly great either in terms of train stations - it’s either a taxi.. or a taxi.

Whilst it’s a long 24 hours , I find it quite easy to be fair. I base myself at Gatwick airport and it’s a simple train down to Brighton, plenty to choose from, and I arrange to join the Falmer train an hour or so before KO. Same journey back with a stop of in Brighton to celebrate the all the chances we didn’t convert. In short, the answer to the question is no.

I was seriously considering getting a ST again, starting with a half one because seat very close to where friends are / my old one used to be.

However, looking at remaining fixtures included (such as Arsenal game) I already know it’s nigh on impossible for me to make because of transport so it’s automatically money down drain.

Then there’s the probability of further strikes on top of what is a dreadful service to begin with. Including over subscribed park and ride facilities.

By time I’d sobered up, ie head took over from heart, I decided not to ask Father Christmas because realistically the sheer uncertainty of being able to get to and from the Amex with a 4hr round trip journey on top of time takes to get to stadium when I’m ‘in the zone’ (close proximity, which can add several more hours easily!) means it’s just too much hassle.

Wondered how many others are now seriously considering ST’s simply because of transport issues such as strikes, engineering works, lack of basics such as drivers, engines and carriages?

I don’t think your vote skews it at all. If we all lived walking distance from the ground then transport decisively wouldn’t be an issue. The further away you live and the more you rely on public transport the more it becomes an issue.

having mates around us is great, but taking over 1.5 hours to get to the ground from queuing at mill hill and then 2 hours to get back home…and it wasn’t even raining! Is totally unacceptable.

I've not taken the train over since pre-pandemic days (not because of Covid, but because my son now comes with me). If you were doing a couple of beers before and after, the train was always fine. Jump on around 11:30 and either get the direct train or the London train, changing at Hove for the shuttle. Coming home, after a couple of pints, the queue has largely gone and getting home was easy from there.

If there were any issues or it was a particularly busy day, it may be standing room only getting on at one of the Worthing stations, but you'd always get on. The same couldn't be said for the poor souls further east. The train would pull in and collectively the faces on the platform would drop, as everyone realised they faced a real issue just squeezing onto the train. It's not a lot of fun, particularly if you have young kids.

It sounds like every Saturday is like that now and am I right in saying the ridiculously useful Hove <--> Brighton shuttle doesn't run any more?
