[Albion] Did anyone actually ask Graham for an apology?

The press are really spinning Potters comment about 'nothing to apologise for' as if it's the delusional Brighton fans asking for an apology and that we should be more grateful for what he did for us.

It was actually Potter himself that said it, assuming that was why he was getting booed.

Emotional intelligence? ha - he has manipulated the situation to make himself look better and its worked, most of the gullible press and neutrals have bought it.

No one asked you for an apology Graham, no one begrudges your money move, no one is that stupid to think you couldn't turn it down.

But don't expect to be thanked for it - as you say 'its business'.

Silly comments like that will however damage your legacy.

Nothing to see here, the media accused the club of being racist when CH was sacked. Garth Crooks was fully on board with that too if I remember correctly.

”Know your place and say thank you Brighton” is the media view isn’t it?

The more I’ve thought about it the more I’m surprised anyone would expect anything other than what happened.. if a ref makes one bad decision it’s “wanker, wanker, wanker” all game. If an opposition player makes one bad challenge he’ll get boo’s on every subsequent touch. So given what’s happened it’s no wonder the turncoats got some stick.

The media love to be over dramatic about things like.

And nothing to apologies for? As others have said we didn’t ask for an apology. & even Graham himself said when he left “I know I won’t be able to persuade you all to forgive me” (or something to that effect). So he knew then that he was doing something that would piss us off, but now it’s the innocent routine.

So far GP has been in an expanding bubble of public interest, now that bubble has essentially burst. At Brighton if he lost a game then outside our fan base and local press then it might be scrutinised for 5 minutes then everyone moves on, any mainstream media would normally follow the ‘needs a striker’ mantra and no one really cares.
That is completely different now. This will be picked over and talked to death on all the usual media as a main story and this will happen EVERY time Chelsea don’t win. Not to mention all the online BS where every Chelsea fan in the world will have some entitled view and will share it, I can’t wait so see his patient reaction to the question from Wayne in Miami or Abraham in Senegal as to why he’s playing Sterling as a LWB……
Put simply it’s no longer ‘tomorrow’s chip paper’; Potter and his gang wanted this though, so here it is.

This is all so tedious now. As with most things in life, there are now two 'sides' and everyone seems FORCED to take one of them. Bloke leaves a club and thinks he did nothing wrong. Fans of said club don't like the fact he left. The two polar opposites are NEVER going to find common ground.

I'm not sure why, even after a stunning victory against Potter's Chelsea, people are still banging on about who said what, what they interpret he meant by it or what he thinks of the club. He's clearly moved on, so why can't some Brighton fans?

There seems to be a lot of generalisations and assumptions flying about – on all sides. Who cares?!

Yep this.

I have to say, my expectation was that Potter's knowledge of us, his tactical guile and his £billion squad, would deliver a humiliation of BHA.
However, it was our player's understanding of his tactics, a hostile atmosphere and De Zerbi's aggressive style, which totally undid him.

It has punctured his ego and reputation and he knows it.

Yup, you can find in various threads a bunch of people who said that if he had made an apology they would be fine with him leaving etc. Which isn't true of course, but doesn't prevent people from thinking it.

Question is not if he would be forgiven but if people would let him go. Every week I go to a friend who was left by his girlfriend in February. He says he got over her and now got a bunch of other chicks and then usually proceeds to talk for about an hour and a half about how evil she was and their latest interactions etc. My judgement is that he is not quite over it. It looks very similar here. All these people saying "I didn't warm to him" etc. only to go on and write a dozen posts about him, one day after a magnificent 4-1 win over Chelsea under the reign of a new manager.

He may be pathetic, evil, cold, incompetent and everything you want but what the f*** does that make you who keep endlessly going about him analyzing every move, every gesture, every personality trait you invent for him?

I see Garth Crooks has joined the legion of media simpletons peddling this myth in his predictable inclusion of Leo in his team of the week:

"There seems to be some suggestion that Graham Potter owes Brighton fans an apology for leaving Amex Stadium for Stamford Bridge so abruptly. An apology - what for? Brighton fans should think themselves very lucky to have had Potter for as long as they did. "

Cock off, Crooks you clown.

Yeah it's the same as with your mate.

Mentally we have moved on and emotionally we are very happy with our new manager.
But there is a nagging, spiteful memory of the pain of rejection that makes us lash out and fixate on GP.

Hopefully Saturday's catharsis will help us move on properly, but some of us might just enjoy his humiliation for a couple more days.
We aren't all emotionally intelligent saints.

It’s NSC though isn’t it? No one with any semblance of a life would give this place more than a passing glance, let alone post on here. The same stuff gets regurgitated again and again by the same clucking hens regardless of the topic. It’s like some Z-list Swedish soap opera, but with slightly duller characters who lack any sense of self-awareness and all think they’ve hit the money shot every time they post, sitting back smug at their ‘keyboards’ anticipating the likes flooding in. Pottergate is manna from heaven/SW1 for Bozza.

Yes, but then it's same on social media and then escalates into real life, like it did on Saturday – although I have to admit it did make for a stunning atmosphere.

One of the Bobkin Jnrs commented that the targets of the boos didn't really care. I said a large chunk of the booers didn't care either, which is what makes the whole thing so pantomime :lolol:

Well, exactly. We've used the situation to create the best atmosphere in years and stuff a Top Six team 4-1. Marvellous scenes. I couldn't care less if it's upset Potter, Cucurella and Crooks, all's fair in love and football. I don't want him to apologise though. It's clear from his body language he realises the classlessness of stripping our coaching cupboard bare six games into a new season, but it's to the credit of TB and PB that we've replaced them all so quickly and effectively.

It's as if Crooks and others don't know about causal fallacies when an argument incorrectly concludes that a cause is related to an effect.

e.g. "Every time a rooster crows, the sun comes up. Roosters must make the sun come up."

So in their minds because Potter says he doesn't need to apologize to Brighton fans, Brighton fans must feel that he has something to apologize for.

To arrive at that conclusion takes a combination of ignorance and journalistic laziness.

Him saying he has nothing to apologise for is just a turn of phrase.

Really is time to drop it and grow up a little.

He had every right to leave for a top job. The fans at the AMEX had every right to have a jolly good boo. And we all enjoyed a thumping win over Chelsea. Life moves on.

Good luck to him, but not at our expense. Which it wasn't.
