106 goals (so far) for Fulham this season. They've been on fire. I know they'll probably struggle next season, but their fans must be loving it.

It’s a cracking effort from the lad. He’s great at what he does and it was a surprise the highly rated Parker didn’t recognise getting the best out of him was the best chance they had. Be interesting to see how he gets on next year but you’d be surprised if he didn’t hit double figures. I’d love him at our club.

His style reminds me of Murray a bit. Perhaps not such a nice guy though. Potter won’t want a player, like Sanchez, who is only involved in goals.

Didnt some ex-manager call him the best striker and worst human or something like that? Anyway, 42 goals is pretty good...

Yeah highly rated... like a Fulham fan said, if Parker and Cooper switched faces and clothes, Parker would be in League One and Cooper in the PL. Not sure how true that is, but sort of feels a bit like it could be true.

Mitrovic is highly dependent on service and as long as he is playing in what will presumably be a bottom six PL club he'll struggle to get that service. Think he'll end up scoring 10 or something, which is decent. In Manchester City or something he could probably score 30 but they'd struggle in the CL and against the Liverpool because you cant afford to play 10 players + a poacher in those games nowadays. Its a bad cycle for him.

Fulham are going to do something incredible next season....and finally stay up. They've walked the league, haven't conceded many and have scored a hat full. It's a combination that means they're not going down.

I'll tell you who is...whoever comes up via the play offs.

That's far from a given. My Fulham supporting colleague is not nearly as confident. Just scoring goals in an inferior league is not an indication for the future. And as for running away with it, they have fewer points than Norwich did last year and can only finish 4 points behind last year's total if they win the final match. We finished our promotion season with 3 points more than their current total and so may have achieved a higher total whilst only finishing second. I am sure there are others....

They've walked the league in the sense they've been top two all season and have generally been miles clear. They haven't 'just scored goals in an inferior league'. If they score in their final game they'll have the record number of goals in a second tier season. Their defense is also conceding less than a goal a game.

All of those things point to a team more than capable of staying in the premier league. I'll be surprised if they don't. The only thing that I think will stop them still being a premier league team in 23/4 will be if they lose lots of players and recruit poorly. Which is, of course, possible.

I'd suggest your friend is having a classic football fan reaction. He's got their last two promotions fresh in his memory. He probably says something like 'it would be classic fulham to get relegated'. Many fans have that reaction. Remember NSC the season we got promoted? People were shitting the bed constantly in the second half of the season even though it was a)obvious to the naked eye we were going to get promoted and b) backed by the stats that we'd get promoted. People still trotted out it would be classic Brighton to fail to get promoted.

You make good points. It'll be interesting to see how they do and I certainly wish them well.

Fulham need a defence first thing I noticed when I watched the Forest game they got exposed way to easily. No chance in the PL if they don’t upgrade which won’t be cheap.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Unless they reinforce significantly I feel they will struggle.

Mitrovich has already proved he struggles to score in the premier league and this season is not a vintage one for championship defences. Even Dom Solanke is on target to get over 30 goals.

Fulham have already conceded 39 goals this season, that's 3 more than the 36 Norwich conceded the last time they walked the Championship. So don't read too much into those stats.

The danger for Fulham is they have done so well this season that they may decide to go again next season with the same squad without recruiting enough quality to build on their great potential.

I was curious so had a little comparison of Mitrovic and Maupay in terms of PL goals / appearances:

Maupay: 26 goals in 100 appearances
Mitrovic: 24 goals in 104 appearances

I'm not sure that Mitrovic's fifth stint in the PL will be any different to the previous four to be honest.

He'll be a decent FPL option though, just in case.

Interesting.

Especially as one of them has a great all round game and the other is anonymous other than when he scores.

Little fact after last night - 43 goals for Mitrovic equals the most goals in a season in the second tier of English football since Brian Clough in 1959 for Middlesbrough. (5 of them came in a 9-0 victory against newly promoted Third Division South Champions Brighton & Hove Albion at Ayresome Park at the start of that season.)
