Spanish Imperial Eagle from a couple of weeks ago. Don't normally do black and white shots so would appreciate thoughts.

Great shot! Tho from a position of complete ignorance I think from a general POV it would be brilliant if posters could include where photos were taken. No real reason really, other than out of interest. Spanish Imperial Eagle may well be a major hint. Tho not necessarily

With that one it is. But not with Spanish bluebells!

Yes. I've got a jist of what you need to do and what you shouldn't do with this lens, but it's not easy. I learnt a lot of lessons yesterday.
The lens has sentimental value so I'm determined to get the hang of it. I'll do some more reading up and get some more practice and post any progress here.

I shoot with the wide end of 10-24mm on crop (so 15mm effective) quite a lot, and don't see such extremes... which, in fairness, is probably down to the auto distortion correction in Fuji lenses/Lightroom.

I've had a 14 - 24mm lens for nearly six years and have never really given it a good go. I've decided that I must use it a lot more. I went to the West Pier yesterday as the sunset looked promissing.
I've read a lot on how to use this lens as it's a bit tricky to get decent results, depending on what's in your frame. It is one up from a fish-eye lens, so you get lots of distortion.
What I learnt yesterday is that you can't get level sea, an undistorted West Pier and a vertical i360 in the same shot! Here's a couple I was disappointed with! (I'll keep at it!!).

That is a strange set of distortions must try my 10-20 sigma see what that does with straight lines...

Very briefly, anyone able to give a bare minimum budget please, and recommendations, on a decent camera and telephoto lens for detailed long range shots of birds, using a tripod.

The set up would have to match or better a spotting scope with an 80mm objective lens and 20-60x magnification, paired with a basic phone for digiscoping.

Happy to go second hand, in fact would prefer it.

Thanks.
