How do you know that the club didn’t object? It is a ridiculous assumption by you and many others that it’s the club’s fault when in fact they’re constrained by the PL/TV contract. The Albion are going to lose out on a huge amount of match day revenue because of the timing of this kick off - hardly something that they were going to lie down accept.

Be a hell of a coup for any club that put their foot down and said sorry Sky we support our fans/players and away fans and are not willing to play game finishing at approx 10pm on the day after Christmas.

Here’s a suggestion. If matches are moved by broadcasters from a 3pm kick off then STH have 14 days from the date of the announcement to apply for a refund of 1/19 of their ST price. To stop people taking the piss a maximum of six refunds a season is allowed.

This gives the club plenty of time to find an alternative buyer (at usual Matchday price so makes more money), those fans who find it difficult to make 3pm KO’s (and we are regularly told there are many of them) will find it easier to get a ticket and STH’s will feel less shafted by the EPL. Clubs get an extra £1m per match if they are chosen for live broadcast if on more than ten times a season so won’t be financially disadvantaged.

Perhaps we need some form of independent regulator for the industry to take into consideration the views of fans, or is that too much like North Korea?

So are you saying the issue is with the clubs and not the T.v broadcaster? That view seems to be in the minority.

I suspect most season tickets are bought before any fixtures are announced and an argument could be made that you didn't know when any of the fixtures were going to be played even if you had a reasonable believe that a decent percentage would be played at 3pm on a Saturday.

Its been 29 years since top flight football became all about money, sadly I don't think it will change anytime soon as it seems to work for all parties except fans who attend the matches, especially travelling fans.

Many moaning about lack of 3pm kick offs are the hardcore of yesteryear. Nowadays it seems you are a "loyal supporter" if you're prepared to drive to a game at any given time of any given day.

It's real football fans who are being punished by Sky and BT, both by kick off times and because it means their hard earned gets spent on the obscene wages of bang average players.

Hopefully the OP has sobered up because it is NOT the club's fault. They want to be part of the PL system and it's the system that dictates the rules.

During lockdown Henry Winter went on record as saying that the football BCD was of much worse quality and really bad to watch without the atmosphere generated by fans. Fans have a huge amount of power and they should start by boycotting these difficult games instead of trotting along like lemmings.

I think that the implication is that TV fans aren’t “proper”, in which case I think FBF may have a point. Perhaps they should be described at “attending” fans.
Well, that’s done my bit of PC for 2021, I can look forward to conjuring up another bit next year.

No, it’s the clubs who vote on the deal between the PL and the broadcasters. The PL is the negotiator with the likes of Sky Sports, not the decider of when slots are made available, that’s determined by clubs.

Thats the point I thought you were trying to get at originally.

We need to be on tv just under a third of the time before that £1m a game is triggered. Do you think if Saturday 3pm K.O were allowed to be broadcasted it would help? for instance perhaps they wouldn't need a Saturday 12.30 K.O. or the extra time slot would mean the £1m triggered faster and perhaps your idea could then be pushed? After all no one moans at a 3pm Saturday K.O time, its what we all want.
