Don't wish to hijack the thread if the OP is only after completely AF options, but, any recommendations for low alcohol beers? Like 2.5% or below? Been off the sauce for 6 months now and wouldn't mind a very low level alcohol hit.

I have decided* to stop drinking but I'm really missing having a beer or two now and then. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for a tasty but piss weak beer? I used to drink lagers or ciders mostly but could appreciate a nice brown or amber ale. Or an IPA or a stout. Or a nice porter or a weisse beer. Or a Trappist beer. You know the sort of thing?

For a weisse try Erdinger Alkoholfrei.
The zero alcohol beers have improved immensely in the past 5 years and with an array of styles to choose from.
I don't like the low alcohol beers at all, think they all taste pretty awful, but the zero ones seem to be ok.

Yeah, the Erdinger is the only one I’ve found to be drinkable.

I always keep one in the fridge,

It’s been there months…

Of the ones I’ve tried (Heineken, Becks, Bud Zero, Peroni and San Miguel) the San Miguel was the best. Literally no discernible difference in taste.

All the others were either tasteless, too fizzy or too different from their heavyweight brothers.

Another vote for San Miguel - perhaps that says it all about the full strength version...

Skip brewdog. If its a lager youre after try Lucky Saint, most places sell it now. Stout, try the new Guinness zero.

If youre a little bit more into your beer than the typical macro breweries theres a tonne of good options, much better than your becks blue and the like.

A good place to start would be https://wisebartender.co.uk/

Schofferhofer Grapefruit is 2.5% on the nose, its a wheat beer avaiable in Tesco. Lovely stuff.

One that hasn't been mentioned is Free Damm. Used to be in Tesco, although I haven't seen it in there for a while.

Another vote for the Adnams Ghost Ship - really excellent

I've had the Erdinger too, that was pretty good

Nope. I have some core values; dont hit women, kids or animals. Dont sell too much drugs to kids. Dont recommend non-alcoholic beer.

Infinite Session IPA is, IMO, nicer than the Brewdog offerings (and they're very nice). Sainos sell it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm quite excited about trying a few now. I love beer.

You're like the hilarious guy who says "BACON" on all the vegan threads. It makes you sound like a simpleton. Please don't post on this thread any more.

Worth you trying a selection box from somewhere like Beerhawk. There's some CRACKING 0.5% or 0% ones from across the channel in particular, as you'll probably note from the list below... As for the difference in the strengths I've just given, they are pretty much identical, but understand that in the UK you can't say 0% for legal reasons, whereas in the EU, they know their alcohol free IS free of it, so go for it with the description.

Erdinger is very nice, as is Beavertown Lazer Crush, Palm 0.0, Wheesht AF Dark Ale, Coast Beer's Hazy IPA, Schneider Weisse, Brooklyn Special Effects, Maisel's Weisse, Harvey's Old Ale and Sussex Best Low Alcohol variants, Infinite and Ghost Ship (both mentioned previously), and Estrella Galicia 0,0.

Me and Mrs Peteinblack have mostly given up on 'ordinary' beer for health reasons, but we still enjoy pubs socially, so we now drink alcohol-free lagers - still drink wine, though!

For lagers, Becks Blue, and Heinneken 0, are both really good; Peroni also have an alcohol-free lager.

At the moment, these are all in bottles, but there was a report in last weekend's paper that some pubs are starting to offer alcohol-free lagers on draught.

Apparently, quite apart from Covid lockdowns and people staying at home, another reason why pubs are struggling is that (in spite of concerns about binge-drinking) a growing number of younger people are cutting-back on alcohol for health reasons, and so brewers and pubs are trying to tempt them with alcohol-free beers.

I think it is an excellent idea.
