Having just helped secure promotion for Brighton, you'd have expected David Stockdale to be gearing up for life in the Premier League. However, the Leeds-born stopper packed his bags and joined Birmingham City in the Championship.

Brighton & Hove Albion celebrated ebulliently after securing promotion to the Premier League in May - and who could blame them? The Seagulls haven't troubled the top flight for 34 years and narrowly missed out 12 months previously and they deserve their place amongst England's elite. It will take a significant effort to secure survival in an unforgiving division but emulating Sean Dyche's Burnley could be the best way to approach it.

With so much to look forward to in the coming season, including the Amex debuts of six teams (Everton, Man City, Man Utd, Stoke, Swansea & West Brom), plus the first competitive games for the best two teams in the division (Chelsea & Tottenham), It's time to take a look back to see how the Albion have fared in their League meetings against next year's opponents.

Chris Hughton has spent just four full seasons managing in the Championship. In that time he has won two promotions (inc. one title) & reached the play-offs during the other two campaigns, with a fourth placed finish at Birmingham his worst season in the second tier.

No doubt this week will feel like an eternity as we wait for the final round of matches to be played before we find out who will be crowned as the best team in the Championship this season.

While we wait, all we can do is rack our brains trying to predict which team looks the most likely to be adding Silvo Polish to their shopping list next Sunday.

With Brentford v Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest v Ipswich Town being selected for live coverage by Sky Sports next Sunday, Albion's season of disruption by the broadcaster has finally come to an end.

The Albion finished behind Newcastle for matches selected, but earned more money in TV revenue due to having the most home games shown live. (£100,000 paid to home teams & £10,000 to away teams)

‘Home to Wigan Athletic’ - doesn’t sound much of an event, written down. Recent ‘Home to Wigan Athletic’s can’t have been especially memorable – the last that springs to mind found us 2-0 down after four minutes at Withdean.

Not so this one. Nobody will forget this one for a long, long time.

    Oh my. What a day.

    What. A. Day.

Well, that was a pretty good Easter, wasn’t it?

It’s been an incredible two full seasons under Chris Hughton. Really, we should have gone up last year. Our record would have been good enough in almost any other season. But we didn’t. Rather than get disappointed though it allowed us to go away and add even more of what it is that makes us great just now. So what is “it”? Some national newspapers have come out with great articles in the last day or so trying to get to just this and they’ve certainly been paying more attention than we thought. However, we regular fans have known the ingredients for a while, and in depth. Here – in

A week ago, consensus in my Albion circles, was that full value from the remaining four home games would finish the job. Two down, two to go.

Breaking team news: despite appearances, this isn’t Exile summarising the Blackburn Rovers game for you. In an unexpected turn, there’s a late substitution on the team sheet, a Chuba Akpom, if you will, whilst Exile Baldock rests up a slight knock for the run-in. Nothing could go wrong there, right?
