    Watford 2-0 Albion

In an uneven, unmemorable game festooned with poor passing and uncertain defending, Albion failed to produce a shot on target in a start to the season that felt ominous rather than promising.

Only the scoreline, rather than the respectability, of last season's initial defeat to Manchester City was repeated, and Albion's two further games in August – a visit from Manchester United and a trip to Liverpool – will surely yield ...

If kit launches are often mired in accusations of greed and crimes against fashion, Brighton & Hove Albion’s release of their latest designs elicited a markedly more uplifting response from admiring observers. Shot in soaring surroundings on the lawns of the city’s Royal Pavilion, the promotional photoshoot afforded modelling duties to members of the club’s amputee, deaf, cerebral palsy ...

Have we ever known a summer like it? It seems like the sunshine has gone on for ever. Barbeques every weekend, tanned little kids running round like they’ve just come off the plane from Menorca and, in the fields of Mid Sussex that I regularly stare at from a stationary train, the harvest has started and there are bales sitting around everywhere a month early. Booze sales have gone through the roof (or they would have ...

Brighton finished the 2017-18 Premier League season in a respectable 15th position with Chris Hughton's side securing their place in the top flight with games to spare. The Seagulls enjoyed a solid first campaign in the top tier and it was our defensive record that helped us to avoid the dreaded drop. Albion will need to continue to be well-organised and defensively disciplined ...

Chris Hughton and his Brighton side had a superb debut season in the Premier League, and will be competing in the top flight again next season after reaching the magical forty point mark with games to spare. What did the Seagulls do well last season, and what can be improved in the coming campaign?

    Where did it go?

Maybe it’s my age, but aren't the years rolling by quickly? Is it really 21 years since that crunch game at Edgar Street? A lot of proverbial water, sometimes choppy, has flowed under the bridge since then.

Was it really a year ago that we saw that outpouring of emotion when Wigan were the sacrificial lambs and the subsequent result saw us climb from, effectively, the workhouse into our own little place in Mayfair?

What a first season we had in the Premier League and but a little part of me was almost glad when it came to an end, allowing us to draw breath, at least until August. It was always going to be tough and the difficulty of our last few fixtures, even before the

After a successful first campaign back in the Premier League, that saw Albion stay up with something to spare, it looks like being an interesting Summer in the transfer market for Chris Hughton. The window hasn’t been open for very long, but the club has already moved to make the first new signings, both announced last week.

Abdul Razak is a player with an unspectacular record and is quickly gaining a reputation as a bit of a Nomad. A quick look on Wikipedia will tell you he’s played for a variety of clubs, starting in the academy with Palace (boo), onto Manchester City, Portsmouth, Brighton, Charlton, onto Anzhi in Russia, back to England with West Ham, onto Doncaster... and more recently to Sweden where he’s currently with ...

What a night. Premier League status confirmed, with two matches to spare. A great occasion, a tremendous effort, and most of all a thoroughly deserved victory.

Every player worthy of the highest praise.

Little Maty Ryan, less busy than might have been expected, went about his business in the tidiest of fashion, plucking high balls at will - plunging to save when he finally had to.

Back to the Amex, after a dispiriting reverse at Castle Greyskull, for the visit of Tottenham. Which Albion would turn up to tackle Pochetino’s impressive young Spurs side? That which took the game to Leicester for an hour, or that forced to settle for a point after a limp display against Huddersfield a week later?
