Testimonials are granted at the discretion of the club in question. A rough rule of thumb says that they are granted for 10 years' service, though there is no automatic rule for this.
If - IF - Kuipers gets one for 10 years' service, that would be next year. If it's for the completion of 10 seasons' service, that will be during the 2010/11 season.

Didn't FDM join us for the 2000/01 season, getting subbed at half time in the opening game at Southend? Looks like he has to hang on another year yet.

Surely at the end of this season God will have completed 10 years so will get a match in the summer of 2010?

It depends what the club decide upon.
If Harty's and Kerry's testimonials years are anything to go by, there will be a year's events and dos, culminating in the testimonial match. Of course, should that be the case, and the timing ends up right, it could be one of the first, if not THE first match at Falmer.
But like I said, it depends largely on what the club allow.

I would have thought that the tenth year (ie this season) would be the year of events and that his match will be next summer. Mayo's was a year late, but that was only because noone could actually organise opposition. Hart's was last summer - exactly 10 years after he joined the club.
I hope you're right because the first match at Falmer being Michel's would be AMAZING, but I think he'll have a Withdean do next year sadly.

I heard a rumour that he wanted to delay till next season to ensure a sell out at Falmer, it has been pointed out to him that if Smith is good enough, which from the reports he is, FDM may not be at the club this time next season.
Surely at the end of this season God will have completed 10 years so will get a match in the summer of 2010?

Michelle Keeper will have his testimonial match against World Soccer League Superstars Man City at Falmer. It will also be the first game at said venue. Season ticket holders this year, who also have a stub for the Carling Cup second leg will get priority tickets. Kanchelskis will NOT be playing, Paul Ifill however, will.
And this announcement has been made by the club where?

Or perhaps, just perhaps, that isn't the first public indication from anyone associated with the club, and you simply didn't know. So you decided to shout down anyone who dared to suggest differently to you, especially if they were people that you don't have time for. It really doesn't help to give off the impression that you have the inside track all the time, when there are plenty of people on here that actually do know stuff from time to time and know that you're winging it.

Oh for fuck sake.
Did I say Kuipers ISN'T getting a testimonial? This year or next year? No.
I people think I give off the impression that I know what's what, it's more that they put two and two together and come up with what they like. Like in this instance.
So we've now got Timmy AND Kay (what a lovely combination) both saying 'ooh, Alan doesn't know everything' when at no time did I say I did. All I am saying is I am repeating what Martin Perry once said, which was the testimonials are at the discretion of the club.
Above and beyond that, I'm having to defend a fucking STUPID insinuation, which has no basis apart from being needlessly snidey, and is pissing me off.
OF COURSE I DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING. In fact, I hardly know anything...

If we are going in for "repeating what Martin Perry once said", can I chip in with a conversation I overheard in the Withdean car park at the end of Kerry Mayo's testimonial?
Fan - "Gary Hart's testimonial will be next, when he's done his ten years"
MP - "Is that how these things work? I never knew that"
I always got the impression that testimonials were granted when Ian Hart blurted something out on Southern Counties Radio.

Are you referring to me? Why should Lush and HB&B round on me on this one? Why not say 'Ha ha, ha ha. Albion Dan doesn't know everything...' because it's just as relevant. I never said Kuipers isn't getting testimonial this year (I was saying 'If, if, if...') because, as has been shown, I DON'T KNOW. I appears that what Lush hasn't bothered to do (nor HB&B or KSA) is read the rest of the thread and ascertain where I have said that. If she had, she would know I haven't.

But I might but wrong but do I care. Although a little bird mentioned it was this coming season I think you know which one!!

Come off it Jimbo, that's a QUALITY flounce - right up there with some of the all-time classics. And it's been a while since we've had one but she was well worth waiting for. A thing of real class, of real beauty even. 9.1.

It started up in the high 8's I agree, and may well have peaked in the low 9's with the Bloom rant, but I lost faith in it towards the end and the final line seemed a little too contrived for my liking. It may grow on me but I can't place it among the all time greats where Uncle Spielberg, Nibble and Dave the Gaffer reign supreme.

Unfortunately being a Mac user I'll not be able to 'listen again' so I'll have to make up my mind just from the previous reports.
IMO he should have left it a little longer to allow the binfest to really mature, we all pay to view this site and its a bit like Khan going down in the first when what we really paid for is a good 12 round slog fest.
On the other hand an early flounce shows good intent and hints at other stuff going on in the flouncers life.
My first impression leads me to score him 7.5 but the added addition of REMF pushes it up to an 8.

Well, bollocks to the fucking lot of you. Binfest your arse off for all I care.
I am sick to the back teeth of lies an innuendos being written about me on here. I haven't given anyone nearly enough information about me or what I 'know' or 'don't know', so who the fuck are people to think they can?
The one that really does my head in is when Bloom took over and some idiot wrote 'I bet TLO is gutted now we've got a new chairman'. What a fucking spanner.
Bollocks to NSC. Bollocks to REMF. Bollocks to the fucking lot of you.
It's all fucking SHIT. TLO is flouncing and I'm out of here.
I like it, one of the best yet, this flounce will take a fair bit if beating 9.5
That certainly was very amusing :lolol::lolol:
I just wish i was here at the time to get in on the action

Love the missing letter "d" in "lies an innuendos" - you can practically SMELL the saliva bubbling at the side of the mouth.
Especially when I don't remember anything resembling lies or innuendos to do with testimonials on this thread. People, it's a classic. It should be printed off, framed and hung up in the Louvre.

Can we get back on topic?
Or is that out of the question? Will our FDM have a testimonial or not? And it should be vs city, because of his penalty heroics, and it tall fits together nicely. I would ;)

I always thought 'innuendo' was foreplay between gay Italians.

Why is it always the dull looking threads that explode into binfests?
Quality flounce and about time too, I thought NSC was flounced out as it must be months since the last one?

That was a pre-meditated flounce and not worthy of the high marks earlier in the day.
But by God I`m missing him.

I think this episode just proves sadly how serious some people can take themselves and also how easily they can be offended.
Hopefully TLO will be back soon and all water under a bridge

Fantastic ...
It's years since I posted on here, just returned recently.
... when I left (Wayne Time) it was really disrespectful childish ranting and people getting all agressive about nothing whereas now the NSC development team seem to have really rounded on some of the guys to come up with, let's face it, championship style and standard strops, dare I say a little more stamina needed to see it through to the end but a good effort. (8.3/10)
Well done, long may it continue, well worth the read!
